Opis
LionSteel KUR Black G10, Black Stonewashed is a technically refined EDC folder, designed by Michele “Molletta” Pensato – an Italian designer known for his functional and aesthetic designs. The knife won the prestigious Overall Knife of the Year award at the Blade Show, confirming its exceptional utility and design qualities. The KUR combines tool strength, smooth action and a compact form factor that works well in everyday use and tactical conditions. Blade is made of Sleipner steel , which is characterized by high wear resistance and easy sharpening. The black stonewashed coating improves aesthetics and effectively hides scratches from heavy use. The drop point profile and flat grind ensure cutting precision, while the flipper, mounted on IKBS ball bearings, guarantees fast blade opening in all conditions. The G10 Handle has been three-dimensionally milled to improve grip and ergonomics. Stiffness is provided by steel liners and a 6AI4V titanium backspacer, which increases the durability of the design. The whole is complemented by liner lock, wire clip deep carry and lanyard hole with emergency nail tip. The LionSteel KUR combines modern technical solutions with a sleek but austere design – for those who expect more from a knife than just a cutting function.
Michele “Molletta” Pensato, an Italian knife designer with a passion for archaeology, has turned his love of adventure into the high-end craft of knife design. His career began with an archaeological dig, where he realized the need for a durable knife. Pensato, known for his innovative approach to materials and experiments with heat treatment, is the recipient of numerous awards. His designs for lionSTEEL, such as the popular T5 and the award-winning SR11, are distinguished by their practicality and typically Italian rounded shapes. Knife design, although just a hobby for him, has resulted in significant contributions to the lionSTEEL collection.
Sleipner – a versatile high-alloy chrome-molybdenum-vanadium tool steel with high wear and chipping resistance with a balanced alloy composition: chromium content of 7.8% (Cr), 0.9% carbon (C), molybdenum 2.5% (Mo) and vanadium 0.5% (V). It achieves a high hardness of 60-63 HRC. Manufactured at the Swedish Uddeholm steel plant .
PVD + Stonewashed – the blade undergoes a fine scratch-masking Stone Washed finish. Subsequently, the durability of the blade’s surface and cutting edge was increased by a method involving physical vapor deposition PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) of a thin surface coating, in which a layer of coating material is deposited on a substrate by condensation from the vapor phase to the solid phase. The deposited coating has a very high hardness, which significantly increases the resistance of the blade to abrasive wear.
Blade – drop point profile with a wide belly, which works well in both precision and power cutting. Sleipner tool steel, valued for its abrasion resistance, edge stability and ease of sharpening, was used in its production. A black stonewashed surface finish enhances micro-scratch resistance and gives the blade a technical feel. The flat grind provides even blade guidance in the material and low cutting resistance. The IKBS-assisted flipper opening ensures smooth and fast action, while the liner lock ensures stable locking in the working position. This Blade is refined for efficiency and intensive EDC.
ReF – (Removable Flipper System) located on the Blade’s underside, the Double Crown assisted flipper protrusion/flipper flipper makes it easy to open the blade with one hand. It consists of a small lever (protrusion) that extends beyond the back of the Handle when the Blade is closed. In the open position, the protrusion acts as a crossguard, protecting the hand from slipping on the blade. In the folder, it is possible to unscrew the Removable Flipper System lever(unscrew the flipper fin and then insert the second screw found in the box) and open the blade with both hands. This is important in countries where there is a ban on one-handed opening blade knives in public places.
IKBS – (ball bearing system) allows fast, smooth opening of the blade.
Handle – was based on steel liners and backspacer made of titanium 6AI4V, which provides high rigidity and mechanical resistance. The construction is overlaid with milled G10 composite grips, which, thanks to their three-dimensional profile, increase comfort and grip – even in wet conditions. Prominent finger undercuts and rounded edges promote long-lasting use. The wire deep carry clip used allows discreet carrying in a pocket, while the lanyard hole and the protruding section of the backspacer can serve as an emergency nailer. The whole creates an ergonomic and reliable folder, designed for full comfort and functionality in daily EDC.
