Pintail Dark Green Micarta, Black Stonewashed is an excellent everyday carry knife that is made of very good materials at an attractive price. The drop point blade is made of CPM S35VN steel, which is an improved version of the popular CPM S30V steel.
CPM S35VN – an American martensitic stainless steel designed to provide improved strength over CPM S30V, while maintaining corrosion resistance at the highest level. The chemical composition has been balanced so that it is composed of 0.5% niobium carbides along with 3.0% vanadium and 14.0% chromium carbides. Replacing some of the niobium carbides with vanadium carbides makes it about 15-20% harder than S30V without losing wear resistance. It is also easier to machine and polish. The improved CPM strength of S35VN provides better resistance to edge chipping. The CPM process produces a very uniform, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods. Opens with a flipper, so it can be easily used by right and left-handed people. It can also be opened with a pin on both sides of the blade. Ceramic ball bearings are responsible for smooth operation of the opening mechanism. Small thickness of the blade in combination with high, hollow grind gives us cutting properties almost on the level of a razor. All is locked by well-known and proven liner lock.
Handle – made of dark green micarta, which was screwed to the steel frame of the knife. To reduce weight, both sides were screwed together using steel spacers. Simplicity and solidity of construction assure many years of use. Deep carry clip, two-position (right/left) made of steel, allows you to carry the knife in tip-up position. Above the clip there is a lanyard hole which is a place for attaching a safety or decorative cord. As in other models, the pivot is decorated with stylized manufacturer’s logo.
The set includes an elegant pouch for carrying/storing the knife, decorated with the company logo.
