Para Military 2 Brown Canvas Micarta, Satin, anew version of the iconic Spyderco Para Military 2 in the unique Cru-Wearconfiguration. The model combines a durable CPM Cru-Wear steel blade with elegant brown canvas Micarta handle scales that develop a distinctive patina over time.The full flat grind and PlainEdge blade deliver excellent cutting performance, while Cru-Wear steel provides outstanding edge retention and high resistance to heavy use. Thanks to its ergonomic handle and the reliable Compression Lock, the knife performs perfectly for everyday EDC carry as well as more demanding tasks.
CPM Cru-Wear – high-carbon premium air-hardening tool steel with a hardness of 60-65 HRC. Produced by US Crucible Industries according to the CPM process (Crucible Particle Metallurgy) as an improvement on the manufacturer’s conventional Cru-Wear and D2 steels. Produced according to the CPM process, it is more resistant to chipping and cracking than most conventionally produced tool steels. It is not stainless steel. For steel to qualify as stainless, it must contain at least 12% chromium. CruWear contains 7.5%chromium but still offers a high level of corrosion resistance. It contains a high 1.1% carbon, 7.5% chromium, 1.6% molybdenum, 2.48% vanadium and 1.15% tungsten balance for key properties: hardness, toughness, edge retention, machinability, wear resistance and ease of sharpening. It is not easy to find a steel that performs so well in so many categories.
Compression-Lock – (similar to Liner-Lock) Spyderco’s (made in USA) patented blade locking mechanism. Extremely durable, it provides extreme strength and ease of use. Located on the back of the handle, it protects the knife from inadvertent locking. When releasing the lock, the fingers are not in the path of the folding blade.
Blade – laser-cut with a modified Clip Point profile, 3.7 mm thick. Glare eliminating Satin Finish (semi-matte) coating. Plain blade is brought out with Full Flat Grindincreasing cutting properties and reducing the weight of the knife. The enlarged 14mm round SpyderHole cutout (Spyderco patent) allows the knife to be opened even with a glove. Prominent Finger Choil – a contoured undercut for the index finger and a notched thumb ramp on the back of the blade increase control of the knife.
Handle – full-sized, profiled, covered with light, non-slip textured grips made of durable, temperature and chemical resistant Micarta composite, screwed to steel liners. The folder is equipped with a screw-on metal clip with 4-way clip positions. The back of the handle has an enlarged hole (lanyard hole) for pulling a leash or safety cord.
