LeafJumper Blue Lightweight FRN, Satin Plain designed by Spyderco founder Sal Glesser. Building on the popularity of the RockJumper model, Sal went back to the drawing board and created the LeafJumper. A folder with a wide blade made of excellent K390 tool steel with a completely flat grind and very lightweight FRN construction. The perfect companion for everyday expeditions!
K390 MICROCLEAN® – is a true “supersteel” for those who can’t stand frequent sharpening. Thanks to powder technology and a huge vanadium content, it offers extreme hardness and legendary cutting aggression that is hard to find in ordinary knives. It’s made for the toughest tasks, although as a tool steel it requires a bit of attention – over time it will be covered with a noble patina, which will only emphasize its working character. The composition includes Carbon (2.47%), Chromium (4.13%), Vanadium (9.00%), Molybdenum (3.75%), Cobalt (2.00%), Tungsten (1.00%). Manufactured at the Böhler-Uddeholm smelter in Austria.
Blade – with Leaf (leaf) profile with an extremely sharp tip. The full-length curved cutting edge provides exceptional cutting performance with full force, transferring power to the blade tip, guarantees better point strength. Made from VG-10 Japanese stainless steel, hardened between 59-61 HRC, the Plain blade is derived with a Full Flat Grind. The enlarged 14mm round SpyderHole cutout allows the blade to be opened even with a glove. A ramp on the back of the Blade positions the thumb, giving solid support and making it easier to operate the folder. Solid Blade Back-Lock.
Handle – in blue color, reserved for this type of blade steel. Bi-directional textured non-slip grips (Bi-Directional Texturing) along with notched notches on the back of the handle (Spine Jimping) strengthen the grip. Made of FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), a fiberglass-reinforced nylon plastic. Sturdy metal hourglass clip with 4-way (up/down, right/left) 4-way clip positions. Lanyard hole for attaching a safety line.
Backbone – is reinforced by skeletonized stainless steel inserts with cut-out holes to which the Handle grips are attached. This provides high strength with low weight of the knife. The whole thing was bolted together with torx screws. Phosphor bronze washers facilitate opening and closing.
