Manix 2 FRCP Dark Blue, CPM S110V Plain, awarded the most innovative American design by Winner of Blade magazine, one of E.D.C.’s top folders. Made in the elite Dark Blue color reserved for Spyderco knives with a CPM S110V steel head with ultra-light FRCP liners reducing the folder’s weight by 42% over G-10 sheaths and with one of the strongest Ball Bearing-Lock mechanisms. Manufactured in Spyderco factory in USA (Golden, Colorado).
CPM S110V – a high-alloy martensitic tool steel with a hardness of 58-61 HRC, manufactured using the Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process. The process begins with a homogeneous bath of molten high-alloy steel that is pumped through a nozzle with high-pressure gaseous nitrogen to produce a stream of small spherical droplets that quickly solidify into powder particles. The small particle size creates micro ingots, drastically reducing alloy segregation in the steel and providing an extremely fine carbide microstructure when the powder is processed into finished steel. CPM S110V alloy contains a high 2.8% carbon content and a significant admixture of niobium, vanadium carbides and chromium. Thanks to its properties, it retains its sharpness for a very long time and offers high corrosion resistance. This unique steel is produced in the Crucible® Industries mills.
Ball Bearing-Lock, one of the strongest blade locking mechanisms. Hardened ball bearing housed in a black polymer basket in the open position pressed against the blade by a spring. Made in USA.
Blade – with Leaf-Shaped profile, thickness 3.2 mm. Non-reflective coating Satin Finish (semi matt). Plain blade has been ground with Full Flat Grind. The flat grind provides excellent cutting edge geometry with a sharp tip. The enlarged 14 mm SpyderHole (Spyderco patent) allows opening the knife even with a glove. Clear Finger Choil – arched index finger rest and notched thumb ramp on the back of the blade increase control over the knife.
Handle – covered with textured facings in dark blue color. Made of lightweight translucent FRCP (Fiberglass Reinforced Co-Polymer). Bi-Directional Texturing provides excellent grip in all conditions (even with greasy or wet hands). Folder is equipped with a screw-on wire clip (left/right) which allows you to carry the knife in tip-up position. Spine Jimping notches on the back of the handle increase comfort and grip. In the back of the handle lanyard hole, an enlarged hole for a cord.
